Professional Work: Hampton Lumber Wrap

In January of 2022, neighboring county’s high-school’s were tasked with creating a new
lumber wrap design for Hampton Lumber, the reward would be $15K for the school’s art
department, along with the design debuting on their wraps that travel across the world.
My design won and the picture below shows the Tillamook Lumber Mill, where stacks of
the wrap are loaded onto the trucks. Initially we started as a team of four, but since I knew I wanted to do my own idea, I started to work solo and decided to work on my own submission. I started from the ground up, I tried my best to symbolize what this company represented. In doing so, the image of an elk atop the mountain and trees came to mind.

Over the evolution of the design I steered towards a sharp, jagged, and powerful design to represent the land and nature of Tillamook County, once inhabited by the native Americans, the Tillamook Tribe. Our signature animal from the area was an elk, so I decided its presence above the landscape would perfectly capture the elk as the sacred animal of the land, and could represent how the Tillamook people worshiped the great animals of the Pacific Northwest. I used red to symbolize strength, anger, and passion which is what our locals embody. The image I wanted the design to give the viewer and company was something they would feel proud to wear on their back and to drive across the states with. The sharp edges and upward tilt of the Elk give a striking appearance that would help their company represent their present power, along with the history of our land.
